About This Ride

The Tuesday Scottie Ride is a Marin institution. Named after a beloved local cyclist, this ride covers some of the most iconic terrain in the county over 60 beautiful miles. Starting from the San Francisco side of the Golden Gate Bridge, the group crosses into Marin and heads toward the coast.

The route takes riders through the Marin Headlands, down to Stinson Beach, then up the legendary Bolinas-Fairfax Road (locally known as Bo-Fax), a long, winding climb through towering redwoods. From the top, the route rolls along the Seven Sisters - a series of punchy rollers that test tired legs - before descending back through Mill Valley and returning across the bridge.

What makes this ride special is its accessibility: there are multiple meetup points along the route, so riders from different parts of Marin can jump in without riding all the way to the bridge. The pace is conversational on the flats and moderate on the climbs, though the sheer distance and elevation make it a proper workout.

Tips

  • Multiple meetup points along the route - check with the group for current pickup locations
  • Carry extra food and water - 60 miles with 4,500 ft of climbing demands proper fueling
  • The descent from Bo-Fax is technical with some rough pavement - check your brakes before the ride
  • Bring a wind layer for the Golden Gate Bridge crossing - it can be frigid even on warm days
  • If joining from Marin, the Stinson Beach parking lot is a common meetup point
