Sunday Divine
A 40-mile loop that does the reverse of the Roaster's loop. A B-pace is enforced, making this a great option for those looking for a solid but manageable group ride.
About This Ride
The Sunday Divine is one of the most welcoming group rides in Marin. Starting from Java Hut in Fairfax, the group heads out on the same 40-mile loop as the famous Saturday Roasters ride, but in reverse and at a controlled B-pace. This makes it an entirely different experience: climbs become descents, tailwinds become headwinds, and the overall feel is collaborative rather than competitive.
The route heads out through the rolling hills of West Marin, passing through some of the most beautiful pastoral landscape in the Bay Area. The pace is steady and social, with the group typically staying together through the climbs. If you're building fitness to eventually join the faster rides, this is the perfect stepping stone.
Expect a friendly, talkative group. Many riders here have been doing this ride for years and are happy to share route knowledge and tips with newcomers.
Tips
- Arrive 10-15 minutes early to grab coffee at Java Hut before rollout
- Bring a vest or arm warmers - mornings can be cool even in summer due to coastal fog
- The group enforces a no-drop policy on climbs, so don't worry about getting left behind
- This is the same route as the Roasters ride in reverse - a great way to learn the roads before trying the faster group
